All From One Egg
March 2000
32" x 42"
|
Detail of the three phases of womanhood emerging from the central cracked egg. All energy radiates out from them. Green, nubile not yet fertile. Red, pregnant, full of new life. Purple, mature, powerful. |
This quilt also exhibited at Sacred Threads 2001, an exhibit exploring the themes of spirituality, inspiration, grief and healing. |
Construction: Commercial fabrics, my hand painted fabrics, metallic threads.
Inspiration: This represents my personal creation mythology. I combine creation myths from around the world and current scientific theories such as the big bang theory to provide this synthesis for me. Everything in the universe coming from one point and expanding infinitely. Suns, stars, planets, and everything else all created from the same material. You are made of the essence of the universe, all is connected and from the same source.
Exhibited at the Galeria Tonantzin in San Juan Bautista, California from March 4 - April 1, 2000
